Specifications include, but are not limited to: The vendor provides a conclusive understanding of the psychological counseling style known as “Motivational Interviewing” as defined by the American Psychological Association. The vendor must be a current member, in good standing, with the Motivational Interviewing Network of Training (MINT). The vendor must also have previously developed and delivered a “Train the Trainer” program geared toward “Motivational Interviewing” in which the end result is to identify, coach, and certify a specific group of staff who will have the ability to coach the line staff counselors on utilizing “Motivational Interviewing “ as a counseling technique with offenders, while also rendering the State self-sufficient in sustaining its’ own group of trainers. The vendor will have a 2 year timeline which will detail how the allotted time is split into modules (see attached) and what the successive accomplishment is for each time module. This timeline will run from initiation (Startup) to completion (Certification of Trainers, deployment of trainers to coach counselors, vendor refresher for new developments, etc.). Lastly, the vendor will produce evidence that they have implemented their “Train the Trainer In Motivational Interviewing” program in a correctional setting where potential risks are inherent and program success is extremely critical to the stated mission of the Michigan Department of Corrections, which include offender re-entry success and minimalizing recidivism.
