Specifications include, but are not limited to: Remove all existing floor tiles, carpeting and adhesive in the classroom for correct installation of carpet. Removal of all non-water based adhesives shall be done by either wet scraping or mechanical methods. Floor must be free of dirt, loose floor sub-strait, oil, paint and excessive moisture. Floor must have a moisture reading of less than 3.0 lbs. Per 1,000 feet in 24 hours for carpet to be installed. • If during the removal process it is discovered that the floor sub-strait or adhesive is ACM, all work is to cease and the ACM is properly abated and removed. An Asbesotos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) report shall be required and submitted by the City prior to proceeding with any further flooring installation. • Contractor shall remove all spoils and debris generated by this work from the project site. The owner will not allow excess spoils to be left on City of Saginaw property at project completion. • Contractor shall limit storage of materials and equipment within the project limits. • Contractor shall coordinate their activities so as to not interfere with or interrupt City of Saginaw operations and Public access to the facilities. • Contractor shall perform daily cleanup of materials and debris generated by their work within the project limits and in public access areas in which they create debris and/or tracking of soil materials. • Contractor shall furnish and pay for trash containers and rubbish removal for debris generated by their work. City of Saginaw dumpsters are not available for contractor use. • Include all overtime and premium time in base bid required to accomplish project completion within the project scheduled durations. • Contractor is responsible for security of their own tools, equipment, materials, etc. to guard against fire, theft, vandalism, and/or weather damage. • City of Saginaw is a smoke free site. Use of tobacco products is permitted only in designated areas. • The Contractor may use the existing toilet facilities for all workers employed on the project. The Contractor shall maintain toilet facilities used by construction employees in a clean and sanitary condition, and be responsible for any damages. • Contractor will be allowed to post commercial signs on the site. • Contractor shall secure and pay for all permits and inspections required by agencies having jurisdiction for work in this project. They are also to coordinate any and all inspections with agencies having jurisdiction. • Material shall be stored only within the area under Contract. Materials shall not be stored in a manner creating an unattractive nuisance, fire or traffic hazard as determined by Facilities Administrator, or his designee. • The Contractor shall protect all materials and equipment prior to installation and until final acceptance. Storage shall be dry, clean and safe. Materials or equipment damaged, deteriorated, rusted or defaced due to improper storage, shall be fully repaired, refinished or replaced as directed by the Owner. Materials or equipment lost through theft or mishandling shall be replaced by Bidder without cost to the Owner. • Contractor shall contact Facilities Administrator, Bruce Caradine, at 989 737-5624 at least 72 hours in advance of starting any work on site. • Unforeseen Conditions: Should unforeseen conditions be encountered that affect design or function of project, investigate fully and submit an accurate, detailed, written report to the Facilities Administrator. While awaiting the Facilities Administrator’s response, reschedule operations if necessary to avoid delay of overall project.
