Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project is to replace two (2) double set front entry door frames, thresholds and sidelight panels for a total of four (4) doors at the front entry to the Town Hall and one (1) single door frame and sidelight at the side entrance. Front doors measure 30” wide, 82” high and 2 ¼” thick. They are solid wood and have 12 individual lights on upper 2/3rd of the door. All window glazing (doors, and sidelights) must be double-pane safety glass. The current opening (recessed into the building) which contains the doors, transom and sidelights cannot be expanded. The new door assembly (doors and side lights) must fit with in the existing recessed opening and have ADA compliant thresholds. All doors must have commercial grade weather stripping around parameter and commercial grade door sweeps. The rear door measures 36” wide, 80” high and 2 ¼” thick. This door is solid wood and has 9 individual lights on upper half of the door. All window glazing (doors and sidelight) must be double-pane safety glass. All doors must be solid wood. Door hardware (handles, locks, push bars, etc.) will need to be replaced with like kind finish and quality. Door hinges are to be pre-installed into new door assembles at the factory. Four grade 4 hinges per door are required. The replacement doors and side lights will likely need to be custom manufactured. Particular attention to the historic uniqueness of the building must be considered. This includes the finishes on the inside and outside of the doors, side lights and trim. The finishes on the doors and side lights should be factory applied. The objective is to replace the existing doors, sidelights and hardware with new components that look the same or as close as possible to what is currently in place. The Town Hall has a Perpetual Preservation Restriction and therefore final selection of door, sidelight and hardware will be reviewed by the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
