Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work to be done under the scope of this Contract consists of the excavation, removal, disposal and replacement of an existing 30” RCP Culvert with a new 7’x3’ Box Culvert & two new endwalls. Sand bag barriers, fencing, and waddle must be put in place at both ends in an effort to minimize disturbance to adjacent wetlands, and construction must occur during a low flow period. Stream flow may need to be bypass pumped around the work site during work in the water. Existing water main located bellowing existing culvert at an unknown depth and may need to be relocated. Electric and phone wires are buried above the culvert, but underneath the roadway, and should be handled with care and replaced if necessary. Contractor will need to sawcut portions of existing roadway. The roadway will need to remain open to vehicular traffic during the project. This may be accomplished by covering half of the road in phases with steel plates. Work will also include full depth reconstruction of the culvert approaches. Full depth reconstruction will consist of a 12” compacted gravel base, a 3” bit. Concrete Type I-1 Binder Course, and a 2” bit. Concrete type I-1. Top to be sealed with an emulsion sealer. Contactor also responsible for replacing any portions of curbing, sidewalk or guardrail disturbed during this project.
