Specifications include, but are not limited to: A Safe Haven is a 24 hour/7 days per week, community-based early recovery model of housing as an alternative to shelter placement for individuals who are unable or unwilling to utilize traditional services/placement. In addition, Safe Havens provide supportive services to a certain number of DMH service authorized individuals with the capacity set by Contract (for the Contract to be awarded under this RFR the capacity is 10). Services are provided in a residential setting which is intended to be in a home like environment. Clients are not required to be out of the residence during the day. A goal is to expose homeless individuals to a safe, low demand residential setting utilizing non-traditional methods of engagement. This model serves hard-to-reach, hard-to-engage homeless individuals with severe mental illness and who may also have co-occurring substance use disorders.
