Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1 set of structural firefighting personal protective clothing consisting of 1 jacket and 1 pant. The total number of sets will be determined for each contract based on the current needs of the department, and will be stated in the bid documents. Each set of personal protective clothing shall meet this specification. This specification details design and materials criteria to afford protection to the upper and lower body, excluding head, hands, feet, against adverse environmental effects during structural fire fighting. All materials and construction will meet or exceed NFPA Standard #1971 and OSHA for structural firefighters’ protective clothing. OUTER SHELL MATERIAL - JACKETS AND PANTSThe"PbiMax™"outer shell shall be manufactured by Safety Components and constructed of 70/30 Pbi™ dominant Kevlar® with Kevlar® filament Comfort Twill weave. This outer shell fabric shall have an approximate weight of 7.0 oz. per square yard and must be treated with a durable water-repellent finish. Color of the garments shall be black.
