Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3. Excavate area of heaving asphalt in front of carriage doors, as indicated on the Drawings. 4. Backfill and install asphalt paving at area of excavation to match and align with existing adjacent surfaces. 5. Rout seal existing concrete crack in floor slab as indicated on the Drawings. 6. Remove all ivy and organic growth from entire exterior of the building. 7. Shore existing arches above carriage doors and remove existing tie rod and star anchor. 8. Install new tie rod and brackets, and re-install existing tie rod and star anchor. 9. Remove and legally dispose of all paint on all of the existing brick on the entire exterior of the building by use of specified chemical paint stripper. Do not use mechanical methods or blasting with aggregate to remove paint. Take care to protect all adjacent materials and finishes including (but not exclusive of) the windows and doors. 10. Clean all masonry, and granite foundation with hot water wash followed by cleaning with a non-acidic Restoration Cleaner. Test the pressure prior to the work to avoid damaging the brick, and only after Architect approves sample. 11. Removal shall be by gentlest means possible to achieve the desired effectiveness on Contractor’s mock-up samples as approved in advance by the Owner, Architect, and Massachusetts Historical Commission. 12. Apply an opaque (custom white to match U.S. Customs House and red to match Sherwin Williams Sierra Redwood) breathable elastomeric masonry coating to the entire exterior masonry surfaces of the building as indicated on the elevations.
