The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Department of Transportation are soliciting Bidders for the acquisition of respirator medical clearance services. It is the intention of MassDOT to contract with a vendor to collect, evaluate, and securely store medical questionnaires/records and, if necessary, conduct follow up examinations of employees of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) who will use a respirator while employed by MassDOT. All questionnaires, evaluations and any subsequent medical examinations will be conducted per the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134-Respiratory Protection. There will be approximately 1,000 employees submitting questionnaires. The vendor will use the information obtained through the questionnaire and possible examination to determine if the employee is medically qualified to use a respirator. The vendor would subsequently notify the employee and MassDOT of their determination of medical qualification.
