Specifications include, but are not limited to: curbside collection of solid waste and recyclables from all residences within the Town of Erving as well as several municipal buildings. The selected contractor shall provide for the curbside collection of municipal solid waste and recyclables, beginning on July 1, 2020, from all residential units within the Town of Erving in compliance with all applicable laws. There are approximately 600 single and multi-family homes that qualify for collection under these specifications. Solid waste and recyclables will be collected at the following municipal buildings- Town Hall, Senior & Community Center, Municipal Building, DPW Garage, and Erving Elementary School. The Town also offers curbside collection of bulky items once a year in May. The Highway Department collects the waste and consolidates it into two packer trucks as well as three 30-yard open top roll-offs which need to be hauled for disposal and recycling. The best available estimate of the annual weight of materials collected is 368 tons of solid waste. The estimated annual recycling tonnage is 78 tons of mixed paper and 60 tons of mixed containers.
