Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Single Textbook Adoption Program has evolved since its inception in school year 2003/2004. The program was initially intended to select one comprehensive textbook and/or basal text to address the full scope of the needs for a course. However, over time, as changes to Maryland standards, AACPS curriculum, and the publishing industry have evolved, so too has the STA program. In particular, courses today often need a variety of instructional materials to fully address the standards, assessments and needs of our diverse learners. The appropriate mix of instructional materials is ultimately determined by the evaluation committee and often include some combination of textbooks, consumables, literature, digital products and other supplemental materials. The resulting recommendation of the committee is always intended to fully address the needs of AACPS and the driving values: All Means All; Ready Set Launch; and Sound Stewardship. In the event a single product does not address standards, AACPS reserves the right to award to several vendors for a specific course. This may include specialized products which, on their own do not meet all standards but would enhance the selection of course objectives. The final award could include the selection of products or materials from several vendors whose products, when packaged together, meet standards.
