Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1. Preparation of grounds before mowing 2.1.1. All papers, bottles, debris, etc. must be collected and removed from each location prior to mowing. The Successful Vendor must provide their own disposal site for debris resulting from this contract requirement. 2.2. Mowing 2.2.1. All lawn areas must be mowed at each location at the direction of the Department of Recreation and Parks. See Attachment A: 2019 Contract Mowing by Sequential Address North to South for the list of locations. 2.2.2. Lawns must be mowed weekly, generally on Wednesdays weather permitting. 2.2.3. Grass must be mowed to an average height of not lower than 3.0” and not taller than 3.5”. Mowing blades must be kept sharp and machinery adjusted daily to ensure consistent quality of cut and proper mowing height. 2.2.4. When mowing next to curbs, sidewalks, landscape areas and roads, mow as to throw clippings inward towards the lawn areas. 2.3. Trimming 2.3.1. Trimming must be performed at each mowing cycle. 2.3.2. All close trimming must be done with the utmost care so as to protect adjacent plant material. Line trimmers must NOT be used around trees because of potential damage to the bark. 2.3.3. Any grass or weeds extending over any part of the sidewalk or curb must be removed by trimming each mowing cycle for mowing / trimming to be considered complete. 2.4. Edging 2.4.1. All concrete surfaces to include sidewalks, curbs, pads, etc. at each location must be edged utilizing a vertical steel blade a minimum (2) times annually, generally performed in early to mid-May and repeated in mid-August. Line trimmers are not acceptable for this task. All edges must be straight and neat and not exceed one quarter (1/4) inch in width. 2.5. Damages 2.5.1. Mowing operations must be done in a manner which prevents mowers, blowers, line trimmers, and other equipment from propelling grass, stones, and other debris onto automobiles. Any and all damage resulting from such operations shall be the responsibility of the contractor. 2.5.2. Any damage to the landscape or the irrigation system caused by the contractor will be immediately repaired by contractor without charge to the Town. 2.6. Clean Up Requirements During and After Mowing, Trimming and Edging: 2.6.1. Grass clippings, trash, debris, glass, etc. must be swept or blown from sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and otherwise paved areas. No trash or debris of any type is to be left on site at the completion of the operation so as to leave the entire site in a neat, clean and safe condition. The contractor shall provide their own disposal site. Care shall be taken so as not to allow clippings to get into shrubs and tree beds or on vehicles.
