Specifications include, but are not limited to: MDOT State Highway Administration (SHA) is soliciting bids for a contractor to Mill & Pave three (2) roadway depressions in Somerset County; one (1) on US 13 NB @ MD363 Deal Island Road past the bridge approach and (1) on MD 363 Deal Island Road ¼ mile S of Hobson White Road with Hot Mix Asphalt Superpave 9.5mm for Surface, PG 64-22, HDFV, Level 2. a. Site visit to areas for evaluation of all items that will impact the work to be completed. It is highly recommended prior to bidding for the vendor to consider all aspects of the project, including, but not limited to: i. Measurements/dimensions – Location 1) area to be milled and paved is on US13 NB @ MD 363 Deal Island Road beginning at the end of the bridge approach and comprised of an area of approximately 150 feet in length x approximately 13 feet wide x 3 inches deep creating a patch that is the full width of the right lane. ii. Measurements/dimensions – Location 2) area to be milled and paved is a temporary patch on MD 363 Deal Island Road ¼ mile South of Hobson White Road and is comprised of an area approximately 60 feet in length and approximately 38 feet wide and 1 1 /2 inches deep creating a patch that is the full width of the roadway including the shoulders. iii. Crack seal pavement joints of new patch at both sites. iv. Pitch/slope v. Environmental and operational factors. vi. Traffic concerns & limited working hours - be cognizant of school bus traffic vii. Parking & staging b. MDOT SHA shall be responsible for all Maintenance of Traffic and will have a MDOT SHA certified Traffic Manager on-site at all times. c. Vendor shall be responsible for the security of all their tools, equipment, and materials. d. Vendor shall Mobilize to the project site; Mill existing Hot Mix Asphalt pavement at a depth of 3” on first location and 1 1/2” on second location at the specified distance; remove and dispose of millings, install HMA Superpave 9.5mm for Surface, PG 64-22, HDFV, Level 2, and creak seal the pavement joints of each patch, all per the attached aerial view. Milled/paved area must have the same finished grade as existing roadway to provide a smooth transition and proper drainage. e. Vendor shall begin work within 3 weeks of MDOT SHA providing notice to proceed (pending weather conditions) and be completed by the 7th weather permitting work day after starting the work. Work cannot be completed in temperatures or conditions that are below or outside of MDOT SHA’s specifications as outlined in MDOT SHA’s Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials, May 2017. f. Notice to proceed is expected to be given on or after 09/04/2018 All work shall be completed by 10/03/2018. g. Vendor shall be responsible to keep all persons safe from the hazards of the work at all times. h. Vendor shall make a good faith effort to prevent any damage to the adjacent roadway pavements, etc.
