Allegany County Economic & Community Development is seeking proposals for development of three different parcels of County-controlled land located near Rawlings, Maryland. This property was part of the former Cumberland Chase Planned Development, which was forced into foreclosure due to unforeseen circumstances with the former owners. The County purchased the frontage property of the development in an effort to preserve future development potential and to preserve the future tax base. This property is located adjacent to The Barton Business Park, the home of American Woodmark Corporation; and is also within close proximity to Orbital ATK and IBM, which are located in nearby Rocket Center, WV. In total, these businesses employ over 1,800 individuals in the region. This property is located in Allegany County’s future growth corridor and benefits from significant public and private investments that have been made. The County is in the process of constructing an approved State Highway entrance; complete with acceleration and deceleration lanes. With the aforementioned SHA entrance, this parcel has direct and easy access to Maryland State Route 220, McMullen Highway.
