Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall provide: 2.3.1.1 Training that focuses on: The four (4) aspects of crisis prevention and management: Prevention; management; intervention; and debriefing. Enhanced verbal de-escalation; Defining the levels of crisis development and response techniques; Demonstrating acceptable physical intervention to safely control youth; Defining the staff roles when intervening in group disturbances; and Presenting safe physical control principles and concepts. Training sessions that include a didactic presentation of the material, experiential exercises, and review of the Department’s policies regarding use of force and physical restraints of youth, and a demonstration from the participants of the ability to train in the physical control techniques. The following objectives for each participant at the conclusion of the proposed workshop: identify the types of acting out behavior (as related to adolescent development and mental health challenges); describe and demonstrate appropriate techniques to manage aggressive behavior; describe appropriate intervention strategies and techniques.
