Specifications include, but are not limited to: Providing fishing vessel(s) to assist with an Atlantic Herring (Clupea harengus) spawn project. A total of 48 Atlantic herring spawn samples need to be collected across 24 sea days in state and federal waters during the fall of 2019. The work is being conducted as part of a DMR research initiate to capture the spatial and temporal nature of the spawn cycle of the inshore herring component of the Gulf of Maine (GOM), via a fishery independent study. Bidders must provide a suitable vessel and experienced captain with knowledge of the GOM and known herring spawning grounds. Vessels to be used in this project must be equipped with gear capable of capturing adult Atlantic Herring on the benthos during the spawn season (otter bottom trawl, shrimp net, or gill net). The survey will be conducted from September thru December, and will specifically focus on the waters within the Western Gulf of Maine Closure (WGOM)
