Facility Inspection The successful Bidder will be required to permit representatives of the Fleet Maintenance Department to inspect all facilities of the successful Bidder performing the work, to assure strict compliance to the specifications such as quality of work, measuring and sampling of material being used, etc. This requirement must be made available at any reasonable time during the contract period. 2. Retreading Specifications For the purpose of this Bid, the following terms are defined: a. Retreading shall be interpreted as the applying by vulcanization of new tread rubber to the tire from shoulder to shoulder between the sidewall scuff ribs. The application of tread bars or relugging will not be acceptable. All retreaded tires shall be returned only on casings provided by the City. b. Tread widths used shall be determined by the requirements of the casing or the A.R.A. buffed radius width guide manual or other industry approved manuals. The maximum acceptable width shall be used unless otherwise specified. c. Tread width shall be the width of the base of the precure tread and must comply with accurate measurements of industry standards. Tread widths must be shown to the closest 1/8”. d. Tread depth of drive tires shall not exceed 27/32”. All finished retreaded tires shall be inspected upon delivery for compliance with the above specifications as to contour, tread width, tread depths, tread design and shall have clean sharp edges. Tread depth not to include detail venting depth on any design. e. Tread depth must be shown to the closest 1/32”. Express all measurements in inches and fractions of inches (not decimals). f. Tires shall be the same contour as that of a new tire of the same size and type. g. All tires or casings rejected by the successful Bidder are to be returned to the pickup point, at the successful Bidder’s sole expense. A brief written explanation for the rejection shall be provided by the successful Bidder. All tires and casings shall remain the property of the City who is responsible for their disposal. h. Tires retreaded shall be free of buckles, air pockets, wavy treads and other defects. i. Non-skid depth of retread rubber being offered by Bidder must be indicated on the itemized Bid Form.
