Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department provides supportive, preventive, protective, and public health and intervention services to preserve public health and assist customers in meeting their needs. In addition, the Department recognizes the value of assisting families in providing for the developmental, health, and safety needs of children. The Department strives to provide these programs and services while respecting the rights and preferences of individuals and families. The OCFS assists the Department in achieving its goals for families in alignment with its strategic plan and through its focused units: Early Intervention and Prevention Services, Child Welfare Services, Behavioral Health Services, and Operations. These OCFS units work together to support families, to help prepare children for the transition to adulthood, and to assist families with accessing services to help keep them safe.
