Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department is replacing the P/V Vigilant, a 35’ fiberglass Maine lobster boat design patrol vessel. The Department is in need of a new vessel capable of safely and effectively operating within Maine’s coastal waters at a distance of 50 nautical miles from shore during all months of the year. The Department has identified the fiberglass 42’ Calvin Beal designed diesel powered lobster boat as the appropriate style and design vessel capable of meeting the Department’s needs. The desired vessel will require adequate cabin space for a minimum of four officers and equipment, the ability to haul and set lobster traps as are commonly fished by Maine commercial lobstermen and will be constructed and finished with materials and equipment that will perform properly and safely in the weather and sea conditions found in the Gulf of Maine. The vessel will be capable of safely hauling trawls of at least 20 lobster traps and will accommodate carrying a 14’ RHI boat on deck.
