Specifications include, but are not limited to:Cart Size and Capacity: The cart shall have a capacity of 64-65 gallons. Manufacturing Process and Materials: A. The cart shall be manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). B. In order to stabilize the cart against deleterious effects of ultraviolet radiation for a ten (10) year period, the cart body, lid and all plastic components shall be prepared to be uniform in color so that the plastic material does not alter appreciably in normal use. The plastic resin must be enhanced with color pigment, ultraviolet light stabilizers and antioxidants, uniformly distributed throughout the finished cart to prevent deterioration and shattering. The color shall remain constant from cart to cart for the entire quantity of units supplied. C. The Contractor shall utilize industry recognized standards and procedures to insure that a satisfactory level of quality control is maintained in all stages of the manufacturing and assembling process. Number of Carts: The City estimates that 4,000 – 5,000 carts will be ordered annually to meet citizen demand. This quantity could increase or decrease as demand or City funding changes. Color Options: Bidders must include as part of their bid, all blue color options available for selection by the City. The color of the cart body and lid shall be blue, as approved by the City. Color shall be ultraviolet light stabilized to reduce fading during normal use. The color shall be non-fading throughout the warranty period.
