Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Authority is soliciting proposals for a qualified proposer to enter into an Agreement for the exclusive right and privilege, with certain exceptions, to operate the In-Line Baggage Screening System at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (the “Airport”) for an initial term of three years with two one year period extensions at the discretion of the Authority for a total of five years. The Authority is seeking a Contractor to perform operations and maintenance of its In-Line Baggage Screening System (the “Services”) and Explosive Detection System (EDS). The System supports baggage screening activities for domestic destinations departing from the Airport. The System consists of conveyor belts that will carry baggage from the check-in counters to the EDS equipment to the loading carousel of each carrier. Each airline will be responsible for loading the screened baggage received on the carousel onto the aircraft. The System has been in operation since September 2007 providing all screening activities for checked baggage. This is a total performance contract with Contractor responsible for total operation and maintenance of the system excluding only those portions under the control/responsibility of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The Contractor will be responsible for all movement of baggage between check-in and the loading carousels for each air carrier, including conveyors for out-of-gauge baggage. The Contractor is responsible for collecting and redistributing baggage tubs back to the ticket counters and curbside check-in areas. Maintenance and operation of the System is 24/7, 365 days a year
