The project area is located on the United States Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5’ Wheelwright quadrangle (see the attached project and site maps). The Fabian Little Slide HP consists of stripping a slide to rock to prevent a road and stream from being blocked. The project area is centrally located at N 37° 22’ 6.32", W 82° 39’ 25.5". To reach the site from Harold, take KY979 for ~12 miles. Turn left on Tackett Fork. Travel 2 miles then turn right onto Little Robinson Creek. Travel 0.75 mile and the side will be on the left. Reclamation work consists of stripping the slide to rock, removal of slide material from Little Robinson Creek and construction of a cut in rock ditch. All material will be placed in the waste area. An active permitted area where the Pike County Road Department is currently wasting the slide material During the process of these construction activities, trees over 5 inches in diameter at breast height will have to be removed in the AML slide area. A sediment and erosion control program, consisting of such measures as constructing hay bales/silt fence and an instream rock check to be maintained throughout the life of the project and prompt re-vegetation using agricultural limestone, fertilizer, seed, and mulch will be implemented on all areas disturbed by this project.
