Specifications include, but are not limited to: The system shall be a self-contained, battery-powered imaging unit capable of single side Backscatter imaging. The system shall produce a Backscatter image using a 120 keV, 10 W X-ray source, with integrated detectors. The system shall utilize an electro-mechanical X-ray source, not a live radioactive source. The system shall be able to penetrate a minimum of 4 mm of steel such that the operator can detect a 7.6 cm x 15.2 cm x 5.1 cm (3” x 6” x 2”) thick plastic organic simulant (i.e. ultra-high molecular weight plastic). The system shall use a tablet computer for operation that can be mounted to, or detached from, the system for image analysis, image storage, and system activation using a touch screen interface. Scan images on the tablet shall be viewable in direct sunlight. The system operator shall be able to view images on the tablet, in real time, regardless of the scan angle used by the operator to generate the image. The system tablet shall be able to connect to a separate power source during scan operations to eliminate the need to recharge the tablet battery during extended imaging sessions. The system tablet shall have at least a 7” screen size. The system shall have an operator manual on board the tablet. The system shall be deployed in less than 5 minutes with no setup required between scans. The system shall provide a secured communication between the imaging unit and the user tablet. The system shall meet IP54 for ingress protection for operation in varying environmental conditions.
