Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. GENERAL CHASSIS SPECIFICATIONS Warranties 1.1- The apparatus/chassis shall be free of defects in material for a period of two (2) years from the date of acceptance by the Salina Fire Department. 1.2- The body shall be free of structural or design failure for a period of ten (10) years or unlimited miles, starting from the date of acceptance by the Salina Fire Department 1.3- The body shall be free of rust and corrosion for a period of ten (10) years from the date of acceptance by the Salina Fire Department. 1.4- The manufacturer shall provide a ten (10) year structural and corrosion warranty for the aluminum body. 1.5- The manufacturer shall provide a ten (10) year paint warranty for all portions of the apparatus body. ratus body. 2.0- CAB AND CHASSIS SPECIFICATIONS 2.1- The cab and chassis shall include design considerations for multiple emergency vehicle applications, rapid transit and maneuverability. The chassis shall be manufactured for heavy duty service with the strength and capacity to support a fully laden apparatus, one hundred (100) percent of the time. 2.2- The chassis shall have a vehicle identification number that reflects 2020 or newer. 2.3- The chassis will meet applicable U.S.A. federal motor vehicle safety standards per CFR Title 49 Chapter V Part 571 as clarified in the incomplete vehicle book per CFR Title 49 Chapter V Part 568 Section 4 which accompanies each chassis. Spartan Chassis is not responsible for compliance to state, regional, or local regulations. Dealers should identify those regulations and order any necessary optional equipment from Spartan Chassis or their OEM needed to be in compliance with those regulations. 2.4- The apparatus shall be a Quint vehicle designed for emergency service use. The apparatus shall include a permanently mounted fire pump which has a minimum rated capacity of 750 gallons per minute (3000 L/min), a water tank, a hose storage area, a compliment of ground ladders, and an aerial ladder or elevating platform with a permanently mounted waterway that shall be rear mounted thus providing the following vehicle benefits: Improved mobility vs. mid-ship mounted units, due to shorter overall travel length and wheelbase. Increased compartment space, hose load, and water capacity in the body, resulting from ladder being raised to clear the cab. Shorter vehicle wheelbase. 2.5- The chassis shall be manufactured for use as a straight truck type vehicle and designed for the installation of a permanently mounted apparatus behind the cab. The apparatus of the vehicle shall be supplied and installed by the apparatus manufacturer. 2.6- The angle of approach of the apparatus shall be a minimum of 8.00 degrees. 2.7- The front gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of the chassis shall be 21,500 pounds. This front gross axle weight rating shall be adequate to carry the weight of the completed apparatus including all equipment and personnel. 2.8- The rear gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of the chassis shall be 31,000 pounds. 2.9- The chassis shall include provisions to mount a drive line pump in the middle of the chassis, behind the cab, more commonly known as the midship location. Chassis driveline pump provisions shall include an interlock feature for automatic setting of the park brake when the vehicle is shifted into pump mode while the transmission is in neutral and the transmission output speed translates to less than 1 mph. When the conditions are met the driver side parking brake valve shall activate. Once shifted to road mode the condition for electric automatic brake engagement is no longer present and the driver’s parking brake control valve shall function normally. 2.10- The chassis shall include a carrying capacity of up to 500 gallons (2839 liters). The water and/or foam tank(s) shall be supplied and installed by the apparatus manufacturer.
