Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project includes the reconstruction of Drake Road for a distance of 2,900 feet (0.55 miles). The proposed typical cross section will retain a similar functional use of the roadway with addition of pedestrian facilities and curb and gutter. The roadway will consist of two travel lanes (one lane in each direction), 5-ft concrete sidewalk on the north side and a 10-ft concrete multi-use path on the south side throughout the project length. The roadway will be widened to accommodate auxiliary right turn lanes at Weston Avenue and auxiliary left turn and right turn lanes for the new East Noble Middle School entrance east of Weston Avenue. At South Main Street, the approach provides three lanes with an exclusive left turn lane. A new closed storm sewer system will be placed along Drake Road and tie into a recently installed outfall which runs north to Bixler Lake Ditch. Other improvements included with the project consist of new driveway and street approaches, a new pedestrian signal for a mid-block crossing, new ornamental street lights (to match those throughout the remainder of Kendallville), a new railroad grade crossing surface, flasher signal and gates, pavement markings and traffic control signs.
