Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Investigating complaints and concerns. Ombudsmen will work to resolve complaints to the satisfaction of residents. 1. Identifying, investigating, resolving, or attempting to resolve complaints made by or on behalf of current long-term residents 2. Pursuing administrative, legal, and other remedies on behalf of residents 3. Documenting and reporting cases, complaints, resolutions efforts, and activities as required by the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman B. Advocating to improve the quality of care and quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities in Illinois. 1. Promoting and protecting the rights of long-term care facility residents 2. Representing the interests of care facility residents to government agencies, legislators and policy makers 3. Developing an annual initiative on a topic relevant to the rights of residents of long-term care facilities.
