Specifications include, but are not limited to: SFSP provides cold breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or snack to children attending summer activity programs in low-income neighborhoods in 12 counties. The program is intended to provide nutritionally balanced meals to children who may be nutritionally deprived during the summer recess when free and reduced-price meals are unavailable. All meals served must meet USDA meal pattern requirements and NIFB established menus. Three bids are being solicited for service in the following areas for the corresponding estimated meals per day: Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and McHenry counties (1398 breakfasts, 4331 lunches, 157 dinners); Lake County (462 breakfasts, 1367 lunches); Stephenson, Ogle, and Winnebago County (251 breakfasts, 606 lunches).
