Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.1 Preliminary Inspection 3.1.1 Perform visual inbound inspection. Note whether air box is in-line or offset. Check for damaged or missing parts. 3.1.2 Dissemble, clean and bake dry all components. 3.2 AR10 Stator – Basic Overhaul 3.2.1 Check for and repair any mechanical deficiencies, if, 3.2.1.1 Loose Coil Wedges 3.2.1.2 Defective Insulation 3.2.1.3 Bracing Blocks 3.2.1.4 Loose Cabling 3.2.2 Inspect for stator surge rings; notify customer if not applied. 3.2.3 Test electrically utilizing 1000 VDC megger, surge test and high pot. 3.2.4 Dip or VIP in Class H varnish and bake. 3.2.5 Inspect and repair all threading holes. Pay particular attention to lifting eye holes (all hole repairs will be welded, drilled and tapped). 3.2.6 Weld and grind all dowel holes. 3.2.7 Repair any damaged sheet metal. 3.2.8 Clean machined surfaces. 3.2.9 Clean all electrical mating surfaces. 3.3 D14/CA5 stator – Basic Overhaul 3.3.1 Inspect D14/CA5 end bell for ventilation holes, notify Metra if any are not present. 3.3.2 Check for mechanical defects. 3.3.3 Loose wedge material, damaged or worn (boots, sleeves, tubing) damaged insulation. 3.3.4 Test electrically utilizing: 3.3.4.1 110 VAC Volt Meter 3.3.4.2 1000 VDC Megger 3.3.4.3 Surge Test 3.3.4.4 Hi-pot 3.3.4.5 Milli-ohm Meter 3.3.5 Replace leads and terminals 3.3.6 Dip or VPI in class H rated varnish and bake. 3.3.7 Paint with red air-drying enamel. 3.4 AR10 Rotor 3.4.1 Check for mechanical defects. 3.4.2 Dimensionally check shaft and rotor to assure they are within OEM tolerances. 3.4.3 Test electrically utilizing: 3.4.3.1 110 VAC 15AMP Power Source 3.4.3.2 110 VAC Volt Meter 3.4.3.3 1000 VDC Megger 3.4.3.4 Surge Test Device 3.4.3.5 Hi-pot Device 3.4.4 Replace any coils, which fail the electrical test. If five (5) or more coils need to be replaced the contractor will rewind the complete AR10 rotor (all ten (10) coils are to be rewound). 3.4.5 Inspect and install series connection bus bars. 3.4.6 Dip or VPI with Class H varnish and bake. 3.4.7 Paint with red air drying enamel. 3.4.8 Replace cable assembly and secure with sleeving and polyester banding. 3.4.9 Install new terminal lugs. 3.5 D14/CA5 Rotor 3.5.1 Replace any coils which fail the electrical test. If eight (8) or more coils need to be replaced the contractor will rewind the complete D14/CA5 unit (all sixteen (16) coils). 3.5.2 Verify and correct, if necessary, alignment and run-out to within OEM standards. 3.5.3 Dynamically balance to eight (8) inch ounces maximum.
