Specifications include, but are not limited to: The College is mandated by law (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973) to provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Due to the number of hearing impaired students enrolled in classes each term, it is occasionally necessary to contract with an agency to fill interpreting requests. To remain in compliance, the College must provide interpreting services for hearing impaired students on an as-needed basis. It is difficult to accurately predict the number of students that will be taking classes each term and the number of hours of interpreting that will be required. Hours can vary depending on the number hearing impaired students registered and the number of credit hours they are enrolled in.
