Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. This scope of work presents information for dump trucks and hauling services, to be used to support Metra construction and property. The contractor shall, as an independent contractor, not as an agent of Metra, take ownership of and provide all required regulatory state, local, and federal permits, labor, tools, equipment, transportation, facilities, etc. necessary for the proper transport and disposal of items included in this contract. Items included in this contract are grouped into the following categories: • Ballast (rock), soil, asphalt, concrete, railroad ties, and organic material, all mixed together • Railroad ties • Rubber crossing pads and vehicle tires • Trees, limbs, brush, and organic matter • Mix of clean dirt and rock ballast • Creosoted or treated wood poles B. Metra will load the dump trucks with material for transport and disposal or for transport and relocation on Metra property. Metra assumes responsibility for selecting relocation sites on Metra property. The contractor is responsible for all transport and disposal activity. C. The service(s) referenced in this scope of work must meet or exceed all federal and State of Illinois requirements and regulations for safety and environmental control in effect at the time of performance. D. While the term “or approved equal” may not be inserted, it is to be implied. Only substitutions equal to the specified service are allowed, and only when such substitution is necessary. Before furnishing any service that is a substitute for a specified service, the vendor must submit proof of equality to Metra. E. All optional equipment and services to be provided to comply with Metra’s scope of work must be clearly indicated.
