Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Office of the Secretary of State is requesting price quotes on the replacement of cooling tower fill media on the Index Building, disinfection and application of biocide to all above mentioned cooling towers, and other miscellaneous work associated with the above mentioned cooling tower as detailed in the document below plus an alternate bid for a temporary cooling tower to be utilized if necessary during this replacement/installation. All work is on the Illinois State Capitol Complex. • The Contractor is responsible for scheduling overtime, multiple shifts, etc., as required to ensure all work is complete by the time and date specified. No time extensions or additional compensation for overtime or multiple work shifts will be granted. Specific work times must be discussed and approved by the Owner at the Pre-Construction Meeting. • You will install new fill media for the 800-ton, cross-flow Baltimore Air Coil Company model 15250-2, serial number U064820502 cooling tower on the roof of the Index Building. This tower consists of four (4) cells. The fill media will be compatible with the tower water level and all industry standards for performance to match existing, drift efficiencies and UV degradation resistance. • You will provide cleaning of the cooling tower consisting of power-washing of tower basins, walls and frames to remove scale and algae build-up, mechanical removal of scale not removed by power-washing, and the application of a halogen-based disinfectant to industry standard levels to ensure within reason a clean cooling tower upon the completion of the project. • You will provide factory startup of the cooling tower to ensure proper operation. This includes a run test of the cooling towers to ensure no undue water drift, fill gaps, water splashing, etc., that are outside the normal and designed operation of the cooling towers. • After factory startup is completed, the cooling tower will be tested according to the CDC protocol for bacteria, specifically for Legionella bacteria. The testing shall be coordinated with the Owner and conducted by the Owner’s representative at the Owner’s expense. If the tests results indicate the presence of Legionella, the contractor shall disinfect the tower according to industry standards and the towers will be tested again.
