Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Board commonly known as Chicago Public Schools (“CPS”) is accepting proposals for the Alternative Learning Opportunities Programs (“ALOP” or “Programs”) for its high school students re-entering the school system. The ALOPs shall be designed as educational alternatives for high school students 17-21 years of age who have had a leave of absence from high school or are at risk of dropping out of high school. Proposers with unique educational models may propose to serve students who are not yet 17 years old. The Board shall not be permit ALOPs to enroll eligible students who have not yet enrolled in a high school.For the district, the purpose of the ALOP is to provide and implement a quality educational alternative for students who have been out of the traditional school system due to dropping out or involvement with the juvenile justice system. The purpose of the Program also is to provide an educational environment with trauma-informed supplemental support services that ensures students graduate from high school and have a concrete postsecondary plan for success.
