Specifications include, but are not limited to: Amtrak, (Owner), is seeking professional services to perform security enhancements to the Chicago Union Station. Project includes but is not limited to the following: In-kind replacement of four hydraulic, wedge-style traffic barriers and supporting mechanical and electrical systems, in addition to the installation of a traffic light stations at wedge barriers, the replacement of the existing asphalt topping-layer of pavement along the drive lanes within the lower level of the north and south ends of the building and surface repairs to the bottom face of the structural concrete slab supporting the drive lane (ceiling of basement level utility rooms). Installation of new video monitors, a walkie talkie charger and a desktop computer and laser printer in the the existing non-historic wedge barrier guard shack. Removal and replacement of security cameras and the installation of new camera readers at the drive lanes, outside and inside of a street-level IT room and outside and inside of basement-level electrical and mechanical rooms. Removal and in-kind replacement of five, non-historic, basement-level, hollow-metal doors along with new access controls and card readers. Reinforcement and fitting an existing historic wood-panel door leading into the above-referenced street-level IT room with mag-locks on the non-public side of the door (in order to meet modern security requirements). The interior face of the door will be painted to match the color of the existing. A card reader lock-control mechanism will be mounted to the exterior (public) face of the wall adjacent to the IT Room door. All electrical connections to the card reader will be made through the wall and no conduit will be installed on the public-facing face of the wall. All excavation will take place in previously disturbed soils (pavement) and no vegetation removal is proposed.
