Specifications include, but are not limited to: A description of the work of this project can be summarized to include the southeast air handler is a builtup system of insulated sheet metal which houses fans, coils and dampers. The sheet metal is showing signs of deteriorated, split seams, cracked corners and loose floor joints. The interior insulation in the chilled water coil section has come loose. The existing fans are constant- speed plug type with pneumatically controlled inlet guide vanes. The air handler fan intake cone is too close to chilled water coil so results in condensate carryover in airstream. No drain exists in the cooling coil plenum which allows condensate carried over in the air stream to puddle on the floor and seep through the floor to the Library's Archive Room below which then raises concern about possible damage to historical documents stored therein. This project will repair or replace deteriorated sheet metal sections, repair or replace worn or missing insulation, replace the two plug fans with a more efficient, variable speed fan-array arrangement, replace chilled water coil with coil and drain pan and provide pipe condensate drain to existing floor drain. There is one bid alternate to seal air handler plenum floor. This project will increase the energy efficiency of the air handler and will protect stored items on the floor below in Archive Room.
