Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods shall be used to the extent possible to remove, suppress and control rodents, insects, and other pests. IPM includes the selection, integration, and implementation of multiple pest control techniques. The IPM method shall ensure maximum use of naturally occurring pest controls, such as weather, disease agents, and parasitoids, using various biological, physical, chemical, and habitat modification methods of control, and using artificial controls only as required to keep particular pests from surpassing intolerable population levels predetermined from an accurate assessment of the pest damage potential and the ecological, sociological, and economic cost of other control measures. a. Vector Control Treatment Services shall include the use of properly registered pesticides with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and/or the use of approved devices to provide adequate and acceptable levels of insect and rodent population suppression at the school facility specified in the work order. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, tools, materials, and equipment necessary to accomplish the full treatment pest control services for all HIDOE areas and school facility buildings specified on the work order(s). b. Provide treatment using only pesticides labeled for use in schools or institutions that comply with the provisions of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (7 USC 136 et seq.), as amended by the Federal Environmental Pesticide Control Act of 1972 and the regulations issued thereunder. c. If any pests are discovered by school personnel within the 30-day period of initial treatment, the CONTRACTOR shall respond within 24 hours of HIDOE notification to correct the situation at no additional charge to the HIDOE.
