Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor shall: 1. Chip, grind or otherwise dispose of standing non-native trees (of all sizes) for 50-ft on both sides of 10 pre-identified “sections” along the “Contour Road” (Figure 2). The 50-ft measurement is taken on-the-ground from the edge of the traveled roadway. The native plants in the designated sections will be flagged and must be avoided. Section 9 contains a high number of native trees, therefore only 20-ft on both sides of the “Contour Road” are to be chipped, ground or otherwise disposed of. 2. Chip, grind or otherwise dispose of approximately 100 slash piles and log decks on Hikimoe and Polihale Ridge. (Figure 3) 3. Chip, grind or otherwise dispose of standing non-native vegetation for 50-ft on both sides of Hikimoe and Polihale Ridge Roads. The 50-ft measurement is taken on-the-ground from the edge of the traveled roadway. (Figure 2) 4. Chip, grind or otherwise dispose of standing non-native vegetation for 50-ft on both sides of other designated “trail roads” in Puʻu Ka Pele Forest Reserve (see attached map).
