Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Hawaii State Department of Health, Family Health Services Division, Maternal and Child Health Branch (MCHB) is committed to ensuring that the people of Hawaii are supported through a statewide public health system that provides access to health care information. One such program area within the MCHB is the Family Support and Violence Prevention. Initiatives for primary prevention of violence is crucial to ensure that all children, youth, families, and communities are safe, healthy, and free of violence. The overall goal is to stop violence before it begins. Different forms of violence – child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence are strongly connected to each other in many important ways. Understanding and addressing the interconnections among these forms of violence is key and a cross-cutting preventative approach is important to achieve measurable reductions in violence. A key factor in addressing strategies for violence prevention is to provide information, training, and supports for parents, families, and others in the community committed to working with families, thereby, eliminating, limiting, and greatly reducing child abuse & neglect, sexual assault, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence. The DOH MCHB is seeking the expertise of a “training/informational coordinator” within an organization to plan and implement an in-person one day informational and training opportunity for families and interested stakeholders on the island of Oahu. Participants may also include neighbor island families and stakeholders. It is preferred that the event take place between late August or early September 2023 and take place in the Honolulu area, e.g., Ala Mona Hotel, Pagoda Hotel, etc. for up to 150 participants. Ground transportation will be needed to transport families and others and there will be no cost to the participants attending the venue.
