A six-month Substance Abuse Aftercare Services Program which targets high risk, high needs offenders who have completed an intensive substance abuse services program. These programs include Day Reporting Center Programs, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Programs, Integrated Treatment Facilities, and/or approved community programs lasting a minimum of 17 weeks of length. SAAS groups are facilitated on an outpatient basis with the goal of providing offenders with a transition process back into society. This process includes a step-down phase system, which incorporates positive reinforcement of prosocial behaviors to determine progression through the program. It is important to note that the supplier shall provide these groups in collaboration with DCS staff. Supplier shall incorporate process group counseling, crisis intervention, 12-step meetings, family dynamics, and co-occurring group counseling into the program.
