Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Assists attorneys in preparation of trials; provides assistance during jury trials; special master hearings; mediation conferences; and other court proceedings. Reviews and monitors all condemnation cases filed. 1. Attends hearings and ascertain if appeal is filed and is valid. Makes on-site inspection of condemned parcels. 2. Provides attorney with pertinent questions and answers for interrogatories and documents for production notices. 3. Obtains appraisal updates, special studies, witnesses, and exhibits necessary for trial. B. Coordinates and recommends settlement proposals to the State R/W Program Manager or designee (on behalf of Attorney General's Office) in condemnation cases which are settled without litigation. 1. Provides necessary assistance in settlement of cases prior to litigation. 2. Confers with attorney, Condemnee, and their representatives to mediate issues when necessary. 3. Secures and furnishes recommended settlement justification to the Attorney General's Office for approval. 4. Secures check for payment of settlement agreement and obtains final order to satisfy case. C. Recommends and works with designers and engineers for plan changes to lessen the impact of settlements and jury awards. 1. Ascertains the need and feasibility of minor or major plan changes to reduce the impact to remaining property of Condemnee. 2. Works with engineers during the construction phase to resolve right of way issues which may arise on parcels in litigation.
