The project involves the construction/rehabilitation related to the high hazard dam known as Palmetto Creek Watershed Dam #1 in Harris County, Georgia. The purpose of the project is to address safety concerns and reduce the potential for loss of life due to the dam’s failure in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner that meets state and federal standards. The scope of work for the project involves upgrades to the existing earthen dam including, construction of a reinforced concrete labyrinth weir spillway, stilling basin, reinforced concrete cutoff wall, and reinforced concrete training walls with underdrains. The proposed action also includes construction of subsurface drainage systems, rock excavation and on-site earth fill.
