Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners is seeking bids of qualified firms to remove and dispose of twenty (20) double hung windows at the Old Historic Jail located at 75 Enota Drive and to replace those windows with new, double hung, double paned, insulated glass windows which match the style of the existing windows. The existing windows are not the original 1800’s windows but do reflect that style of the original windows. There are standards from the Secretary of the Interior and the National Park Service which govern the replacement of such windows in historic structures. The county is providing the links to the National Park Service so each interested firm can read the specifications and standards. Care should be given to the job based upon the age and condition of the facility. Bidders should include in their bid any costs for priming and painting the windows, interior and exterior, to match the existing trim with a minimum of two coats. The bids should also include the cost for painting the entrance doors and transoms, interior and exterior with a minimum of two coats. The County uses Sherwin-Williams paint as a standard and will provide the color to the successful firm. Bidders should include the specifications for the proposed windows in their submission which should include but is not limited to: lifting system, grids, finishes, stools, etc.
