Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Thomasville is seeking proposals to perform preliminary subsurface investigation and report (including recommendations) for the following: • Remington Avenue (approximately 8800 linear feet) – This street will be reconstructed, possibly widened, and resurfaced: Scope of Exploration for Resurfacing: Perform pavement cores utilizing a 6-inch diameter bit every to 300 feet in alternating lanes, to evaluate existing pavement conditions, including asphalt thickness and base type and thickness. Dynamic cone penetrometer testing should be performed to evaluate subgrade consistency. Scope of Exploration for Road Widening: Perform auger borings on existing shoulders with Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing every 300 feet +/- on alternating sides to evaluate subgrade conditions. Laboratory Tests: Perform lab tests to determine moisture content, Atterberg limits and conduct grain size analyses on selected subgrade samples obtained from augers on Remington Avenue to evaluate the characteristics of the existing subgrade. Engineering and Reporting: Provide a written report summarizing core results for the resurfacing and widening projects, including pavement thicknesses and/or shallow subsurface conditions, a pavement core location plan, auger boring location plan and boring logs. Additionally, laboratory test results will be presented along with a summary of areas where pavement failure or low consistency subgrades are observed.
