Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The work required under this section of the Specifications consists of the furnishing, installation and connections of the fire alarm system as a complete addressable, intelligent multiplexed fire alarm/life safety system. This includes the requirement of the installation of complete addressable intelligent fire detection systems interconnected with control panels, alarm initiating and indicating peripheral devices, power supplies, conduit, wires, software, and all associated accessories required to furnish a complete and operational system per the Contract Documents and current Life Safety Codes. B. This project deals with the replacement of the campus fire alarm systems currently installed at the Calhoun State Prison, located in Morgan, Georgia. The contractor shall be responsible for the removal of all existing fire alarm systems, and the subsequent installation of a complete facility-wide replacement fire alarm system. Contractor shall review and be responsible for all security and access regulations as outlined by the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) in the General and Supplemental General Conditions. C. The Calhoun State Prison (CSP) currently has two types of legacy fire alarm systems installed and in operation. These existing systems will be replaced with new panels, hardware, wiring, software, devices, and any other element as needed to provide a complete and operational fire alarm system. Inmate support and various administration areas are currently equipped with original equipment fire alarm systems which date to the initial facility construction. There are 8 (eight) fire alarm systems presented as modular, zoned, hard wired fire alarm panels manufactured by Thorn/Kidde Automated Systems, model type FireQuest 200. These are located in areas such as housing units, Library/Education and Maintenance Office. Additionally, replacement fire alarm control panels have been installed in Central Control Room, Kitchen, L housing unit, and the Warehouse. These newer generation panels are FCI 7100 and FCI 7200 type fire alarm panels. D. There are 12 legacy fire alarm panels to be completely replaced for this project. All new fire alarm control panels shall be networked together via a dedicated fiber optic cable link to a new fire alarm central computer workstation to be provided and installed at central control room. Fiber optic network backbone shall be provided by Owner. Contractor shall be responsible for FO network testing, and all connections at either end of FO network to facilitate a complete and operational fire alarm control and reporting network and system for the Calhoun State Prison. E. The work also consists of furnishing, installing, and programming the new addressable, intelligent multiplexed facility-wide fire alarm/life safety system. This includes, but is not limited to, providing the requirements of the installation of complete addressable intelligent fire alarm control panels interconnected with other control panels, alarm initiating and indicating peripheral devices, conduits, wires and cables, software, programming, and all associated accessories required to furnish a complete and operational system per the Contract Documents and Codes. F. The work includes re-interfacing by re-connecting the new fire alarm/life safety systems to the existing HVAC systems, smoke control systems, dry and wet life safety sprinkler systems (flow and tamper switch devices), PIV’s, and Kitchen hood extinguishing systems. G. Additionally, the work includes connecting the addressable intelligent fire alarm control panels to the Owner furnished fiber optic cables required as part of this project for creating a data network between the new addressable intelligent fire alarm panels and central monitoring and reporting PC workstation. The contractor shall provide an interface between the new fire alarm panels to the new fire alarm computer in Central Control via the Owner-furnished fiber optic cable plant that is existing at the facility. The contractor shall provide any and all hardware necessary to interface new field fire alarm panels to the Owner furnished FO cable network, (i.e. network routers or switches, FO interface devices, FO or UTP network cable), and interface between Owner headend FO cabinet and new Central Control fire alarm panel and central computer workstation.
