Specifications include, but are not limited to: Inspections and maintenance of the GPA elevated water towers. Work includes, but is not limited to, providing all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and services required to provide inspections and maintenance on elevated water towers at the following GPA terminals: • Tank 1 – Garden City Terminal (250,000 gallons) • Tank 2 – Colonel’s Island – North Side (200,000 gallons) • Tank 3 – Colonel’s Island – South Side (200,000 gallons) A. Annual Inspection – Inspect both interior and exterior surfaces to determine that the structure remains in serviceable condition. The GPA will need a written report containing narrative and photographic documentation of the tank’s condition. B. Interior Clean Outs – Every two (2) years, the tank will be completely drained at a mutually agreeable time. Clean and remove all mud, silt, and other accumulations that might be harmful to the tank’s interior or its contents using high pressure water washing equipment. After cleaning is completed, the interior will be disinfected in accordance with AWWA C652 prior to returning the tank in service. C. Interior Re-Lining – Clean and re-line the interior of the tank as necessary. The predominant method of re-lining will be spot touch-up with compatible ANSI/NSF 61 approved coatings. Touch-up painting will be undertaken to prevent small areas of corrosion from expanding. Thorough interior cleaning, including abrasive blast cleaning will be scheduled when necessary, in accordance with ASTM D-3359. Re-lining after such cleaning will include approved AWWA D-102 inside coating systems with a minimum thickness of at least ten (10) mils. D. Exterior Re-Painting – The predominant method of repainting will be spot touch-up and over coating. Touch-up painting to prevent small areas of corrosion from expanding. Over coating will be scheduled no later than the time when the underlying paint layer becomes visible in excess of ten percent (10%) of the surface area or when corrosion is present in excess of one percent (1%) of the surface area. Corrosion will be assessed in accordance with ASTM D-3359. Re-Painting after such preparation will include approved AWWA D-102 outside coating systems. E. Repair and Replacement – Repair and/or replace damaged or defective steel parts, expansion joints, indicator floats, vent screens, bracing rods, manholes, grout, and any other component parts therefore.
