Specifications include, but are not limited to: A contract with one or more qualified suppliers who will provide a quote for the Zeutschel Omni Scan OS 12000 A1 Color Scanner to Georgia College & State University. Special collections digitizes items up to size A2 currently, both for internal projects and requests from external departments and groups. The current book scanner on the Georgia College campus, does not allow for digitizing materials that are large, and the current scanner does not provide sharp format or allow saving items to a larger variety of formats, when needed. The need to improve scanning capabilities is due to the following: The current scanner is 10 years old and is nearing the end of the life cycle; There are materials that need to be re-scanned to improve the digital quality and to support current online graphics capabilities: The Special Collections Department is continually receiving requests for formats that are larger than can be accommodated with existing equipment and some requests can not be accommodated: Participation in the Digital Library of Georgia to scan books that are out of print, can not be accommodated without a scanner that meets the HathiTrust’s scanning guidelines for digital image capture.
