Specifications include, but are not limited to: The seven thousand (7,000) bulrush plants provided will be bare root bulrush plants and each plant is described as a single intact (not split or torn) rhizome of at least 3 inches with associated roots and at least two live stems of a minimum height of 48 inches. Stems shall not be cut back. The bulrush will be supplied and planted in 10 marked rows of 600 plants. The shoreline is 1800 feet. The bulrush plants will be planted on 3- foot centers with 10 rows of six hundred plants on each row. The remaining 1000 plants will be planted in and around these rows or planted at the discretion of the project manager on the same shore line. A total of 2,000 duck potato plants will bare root plants and each plant is described as a single intact (not split or torn) roots of at least 3 inches with associated roots and at least two live stems of a minimum height of 36 inches. Stems shall not be cut back. The duck potato will be supplied and planted in various areas to maximize and create a wind break to control erosion and substrate for fish and wildlife. A total of six-hundred (600) spatterdock Nuphar luteum plantable units will be supplied and planted in Lake Hancock in 4-feet of water. Spatterdock stems must be a minimum of 36 inches and root mass 9 inches in length with a minimum of 2 stems per plant. Each plantable unit will be affixed to a small burlap sack (8”X12”) and filled with 2 lbs of sand, (Figure 4). The root mass will be affixed to the burlap sack via jute twine (biodegradable) to ensure the root mass of the spatterdock plant sinks to lake bottom. Substitutions may be made for this anchoring technique, but all substitutions must be preapproved in writing by the Project Manager before installation and must be biodegradable. The twine and logs will be supplied and affixed by the Contractor as directed by the Project manager in this bid. Plantable units of spatterdock shall be anchored in order to keep the rhizome in contact with the substrate in Lake Hancock. See definitions below
