A. Wellfield Park (“Park”) is approximately 80 acres and currently includes baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields, croquet, disc golf, basketball, and tennis/pickleball courts. The park hosts several athletic clubs, including the Sarasota County Croquet Club, Venice Vikings Football and Cheer Association, Miss Venice Softball, Venice Little League, and the Venice Falcons Soccer Club. It was the site of the first drinking water wells for the City of Venice and has been referred to Wellfield ever since. In October 2024, the City of Venice and Sarasota County entered into an agreement to convey ownership of Wellfield Park to Sarasota County for operations and future redevelopment into a County regional park. All operations, maintenance, repair, and replacement including capital improvements will become the responsibility of Sarasota County. B. The park has aging infrastructure with many amenities at end of life and in need of replacement. This project includes the planning, design, and permitting to reorganize and redevelop the park into the Wellfield Regional Park. The County anticipates that evaluation and master planning of Bypass Park/Foxworthy Campus and Pinebrook Park (City of Venice) will also be included as part of the planning for the larger redevelopment of Wellfield Regional Park (“Project”) due to proximity and possible synergies with athletic and park amenities and facilities. C. Site maps (Attachments A, B, C, and D) and the Wellfield Park agreements (E, F, and G) are included for reference.
