Asphalt Pavement Analyzer The Asphalt Materials Section of the State Materials Office seeks to purchase an Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA). The APA is a thermostatically controlled device designed to test the rutting susceptibility of asphalt mixtures by applying repetitive linear loads to compacted test specimens through pressurized hoses via wheels. The APA must meet the requirements of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) test method T 340 Determining the Rutting Susceptibility of Asphalt Mixtures Using the Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA). General Requirements The following are the minimum general requirements for this equipment: New Generation Asphalt Pavement Analyzer “APA”-Three-Wheeled Multifunctional Loaded Wheel Tester with Windows 11 Operating System. Capable of performing the APA Rutting Test (AASHTO T 340-23) Capable of testing samples in a dry or submerged-in-water condition. Capable of performing the Hamburg Wheel Tracking Test (AASHTO T 324-23) Capable of performing high pressure (>250 psi) and high load (>250 lbs) rut testing Capable of testing 115 mm x 150 mm and 75 mm x 150 mm gyratory samples Capable of testing up to six specimens per test. Automatically display in a numeric and graphical format the real-time development of rut depths by use of a laptop computer, to be included in the bid price. Automatically display the stripping inflection point (if present) for the Hamburg Wheel Tracking Test. Capable of allowing the user to perform all calibrations, operations, and capture all measurements with a computer-based system. Capable of adjusting the speed/rate of loading using the laptop computer. Include a water pump that continuously circulates water during a test when testing samples in a submerged condition. Include a temperature measuring system to set and maintain both the chamber temperature for dry samples and the water temperature for submerged samples up to 80oC. Capable of capturing a minimum of 11 rut depth measurements across the entire length of the test samples for each pass that is made. Capable of displaying the number of passes, rut depth measurement on each wheel, and temperature at each pass in Microsoft Excel. Equipped with the ability to automatically stop testing on an individual wheel when a specified rut depth is reached.
