Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This per unit sale is a thinning of 268 acres of planted and natural slash pine on the Arbuckle tract of the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest located in Polk County, Florida. Timber available for harvest includes all unmarked dead, dying and green slash pine within the sale boundaries. Pine timber marked with orange paint is not to be harvested or damaged. The estimated volume of timber to be harvested is 5,757 tons of pulpwood and better. Sale boundaries are marked with orange flagging tape, BMP areas are marked with blue flagging tape. This sale area will require several off-road/palmetto roads installed for logging operations as approved by the Forester-in-Charge. All wheel drive set-out trucks or skidder/trailer-dolly will be required to return loaded trailers to adjacent service roads due to the sandy or sensitive nature of these areas. Experience has proven a 6X6 or deuce-and-a-half type military truck has worked well.
