1. 1. The Santa Rosa County School District is seeking a School Psychologist, additional School Psychologists may be added upon request by the District. Below is the detailed Scope of Services required:
  2. Florida State Board Education Rule 6A-4.0311, F.A.C refers to the Certification and Licensure options for providing School Psychology services in Florida Schools. The practice of “school psychology” includes but is not limited to: the application of: effective instructional processes; understanding classroom and school environments; understanding the organization and operation of schools and agencies; applying principles of learning to the development of competence both within and outside school; consulting with educators and other professionals regarding cognitive, affective, social and behavioral performance; assessing developmental needs and developing educational environments that meet those diverse needs; coordinating educational, psychological and behavioral health services by working at the interface of these systems; intervening to improve organizations and develop effective partnerships between parents, educators and other caretakers; synthesizing information on developmental mechanisms and contexts and translating these to adults who are responsible for promoting the healthy growth and development of children and youth in a wide range of educational contexts.
2. QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Minimum Qualifications & Skills Required:
    1. Master’s Degree, Educational Specialist, or higher in School Psychology preferred
    2. Currently hold or eligible for Florida certification as School Psychologist
    3. Ability to provide own transportation to various locations as required
    4. Provider will be interviewed by the District Student Services Staff prior to acceptance and placement within the District.
  2. Preferred:
    1. Knowledge of technology support applications as related to School Psychologist functions (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, graphing of data, email, scoring software programs, on-line integrated data system, etc.)
    2. Skill in human interaction and conflict management
    3. Effective skills in oral and written communications
    4. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize
    5. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with school personnel, students, and parents
    6. Additional certification by the National Association of School Psychologists or licensure by the Florida Department of Health in School Psychology is desirable.
  3. Physical Demands:
    1. Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force as needed to move objects.
    2. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
    3. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.
    4. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    5. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
    6. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
3. TIME EXPECTATION
  1. Provide on-site services for 7.5 hours each day for 180 days encompassing the Districts approved school year
  2. This is inclusive of driving time, notes preparation, transmittal of notes and reports during the District school year.
  3. Provide additional on-site services, inclusive of driving time, notes preparation and transmittal of notes and reports as requested.
  4. ln the event of crisis intervention needs, be available to the School Administration and the Director of Student Services for consultation, when needed, by phone and email.

  1. Provide a detailed itemized monthly invoice including:
    1. Date(s) service(s) performed
    2. Description of service(s) performed
    3. Time spent performing service(s)
    4. Hourly rate of service
    5. Extended pricing
    6. Contract number referenced
5. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  1. Collaborate with school personnel, parents, community agencies, and students to promote optimal learning outcomes for all students.
  2. Utilize skills in problem solving and assessment for intervention to support teachers in meeting the instructional needs of all students.
  3. Observe students in various educational settings.
  4. Conduct functional academic and behavioral assessments that are intervention-oriented and that consider the environmental context of the presenting problems as they relate to the student’s capacity to receive and benefit from instruction.
  5. Utilize skills in formative and summative evaluation by collaborating with instructional personnel to collect data on student learning and behavioral outcomes that are relevant to the students’ presenting problems and that can be used for on-going progress monitoring of students’ responsiveness to proven instructional and behavioral interventions.
  6. Implement individual, group, or system-level interventions and counseling that are scientifically proven to promote positive academic, social/emotional, behavioral, and independent functioning outcomes.
  7. Implement crisis counseling for students and staff.
  8. Participate in Individualized Educational Plan Teams and ESE Eligibility/Placement Committees.
  9. Provide staff development for school personnel on various topics pertinent to meeting the instructional needs of all students (e.g., academic assessment and intervention, progress monitoring, behavioral assessment, classroom management, positive behavioral support, data collection, data analysis, etc.).
  10. Conduct comprehensive psycho educational assessments when requested by Multi-Tiered System of Support Team (MTSS), and/or requested by parent or school, that yield results that are intervention-oriented, that will facilitate the instruction of a student who is not responding to proven instructional and/or behavioral interventions, that will assist MTSSs in determining the student’s need for specialized instruction, and that are sensitive to the cultural background of students and families.
  11. Prepare and type formal written psycho-educational reports that adhere to Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules and Santa Rosa County and Student Services procedures for presenting evaluation and assessment data.
  12. Conduct initial training for new employees and annual refresher training consistent with the School District (i.e. ethics; slips, trips and falls; mandatory reporting; safety; and Human Resources).
  13. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to determine the instructional and/or behavioral needs of all students.
  14. Attend professional meetings and participate in professional development opportunities that are consistent with the goal of this position when requested and approved by the Director of Student Services or designee.
  15. Partner with instructional, non-instructional, and administrative personnel in their support of students who demonstrate aggressive behavior, self-injurious behavior, and/or high-magnitude disruptive behavior.
  16. Assumes the responsibility to maintain a valid Florida teacher’s certificate with certification in school psychology.
  17. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services or designee.
