PROVIDE SOD SERVICES
Overview:
Okaloosa County is seeking sealed bids from qualified vendors to furnish and deliver sod for various county projects. This solicitation aims to establish a reliable source for sod services to support capital improvements, maintenance operations, and surtax-funded infrastructure initiatives. The sod must meet specified quality standards and be delivered timely to designated locations within Okaloosa County. This solicitation is for supply only—installation services are not required.
Scope of Services:
The successful vendor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and delivery necessary to sod in accordance with the standards established by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), specifically referencing the “Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges.”
The vendor will support erosion control efforts tied to the following programs:
- Capital Improvement Projects
- Routine Maintenance Activities
- Surtax “50 in 5” Infrastructure Program
- Additional Surtax Projects as needed
Key Requirements:
Sod must be delivered to specified jobsites within 72 hours of order placement, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
- All sod shall meet Florida Grades and Standards as applicable and be suitable for erosion control applications.
- Bidders must include all freight/delivery charges in their pricing.
- A written guarantee of delivery date must be provided upon receipt of each order.
- Vendor must notify Okaloosa County at least 24 hours prior to each delivery.
- Invoices must clearly reference:
- Contract number
- “Provide Sod Services”
- Department-assigned Task Number
Sod Types Requested:
Vendors must provide pricing and availability for the following sod types:
Bahia
Centipede
St. Augustine
Zoysia
Pricing Structure:
Please provide pricing in the following format:
- Fixed Cost for Small Orders
- For orders up to 100 square yards, provide a flat-rate, all-inclusive price (including delivery).
- Example:
- 0–50 sq yd: $[Flat Fee]
- 51–100 sq yd: $[Flat Fee]
- Per Square Yard Pricing for Larger Orders
- For orders above 100 square yards, provide a tiered price breakdown based on quantity ordered:
- 101–250 sq yd: $[XX.XX] per sq yd
- 251–500 sq yd: $[XX.XX] per sq yd
- 501–1000 sq yd: $[XX.XX] per sq yd
- 1000+ sq yd: $[XX.XX] per sq yd
Note: All pricing should include cost of sod, loading, delivery, and any associated fees.
Bid Submission:
- Bidders must complete the bid sheet in full. Incomplete submissions may be disqualified.
- Any exceptions to specifications must be clearly noted.
- By submitting a sealed bid, bidder agrees to the terms of the draft contract or must list any exceptions.
- Compliance with Insurance Requirements (Attachment “B” of Draft Agreement) is mandatory.
